What does it mean to encounter the presence of the past and to defy the erasure of that which we refuse to face? To make kin with ghosts, vestiges of past ways of life, futures foreclosed, tumbling in their graves, bulldozed into the rubble of empire and yet, whispering tales of futures awaiting to arrive?Â
In this talk, Miguel Casar draws from his childhood in Mexico, his work in social movements, and his recent scholarship and experiences in the South and offers an invitation to a journey of making kin with ghosts, cutting across temporalities, and conjuring the otherwise. A journey which, he offers, is vital for healing, justice, and transformation.Â
