About the event

No math skills required. Dive into a relaxed, jargon-free exploration of Category Theory – what was once introduced by mathematicians as “a bunch of abstract nonsense” but is now regarded as math’s unifying common language with applications ranging from quantum physics to AI.

DiscourseBHAM’s “Math Whisperer” will explore how Category Theory is based on a few very simple and ordinary ideas which make it an extremely powerful tool for understanding the world around us. So come along and uncover the patterns that shape our universe. This talk was designed for the mathematically challenged.

Dr. Sergio Fabi is an Assistant Professor of Physics at the University of Alabama. His research on Theoretical Physics explores gravity, gauge theories, and non-commutative geometry. His work on Mathematical Physics: explores Category Theory and Lie groupoid. He earned his doctorate from the University of Alabama.
