On Supernatural Stories and Tarot Readings

Queer author and multi-disciplinary performer Jacob Budenz explores the intersections of otherness and the unseen world. We’ll start with a spooky reading from their debut collection of short stories, TEA LEAVES--a collection that narrated encounters between queerness and the otherworldly—followed by an interactive workshop on using the Tarot for inspiration and self-reflection. Participants are encouraged to bring something to write with, as Jake's talk will culminate with a creative prompt drawn from a personalized Tarot pull for each interested participant.

Jacob Budenz is a queer writer, multi-disciplinary performer, educator,  and witch with an MFA from University of New Orleans and a BA from Johns Hopkins University whose work explores the intersections between otherness and the otherworldly. A 2020 winner of the Baker Innovative Projects Grant for SIMAETHA: A DREAMBABY CABARET, Jake has work in journals including Slipstream, Taco Bell Quarterly, Baffling, Wussy Magazine, and more as well as anthologies by Mason Jar Press and Lycan Valley publications.
