About the event

Fueled by inequity and stigma, the southeastern United States remains a stronghold in the HIV epidemic with disproportionate numbers of new infections each year. This talk will provide a broad overview of HIV in the southeastern US, and describe how a clinic in Birmingham, AL became an international leader in HIV care, research and use of innovative partnerships to address an ever-changing epidemic. Christa Nevin, MD, MSPH is an assistant professor of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She specializes in the care of adolescents and adults living with HIV and is the director of the UAB 1917 Clinic.
